To me, art is a profound relationship of movement, colors, lines, textures, and shapes. I am intrigued by exploration and discovery of results when one color manipulates another, one shape impacts another - the movement, the stillness, the tension, the release.
Painting is a contemplative process. I strongly believe in cause and effect. One brush stroke leads to the next. One movement causes another. A simple direction can open an entire thought process never before realized.
H.W. Janson, in his tome, The History of Art, referred to the work of the Artist, whom I most admire, Pablo Picasso and his simplicity in creativity. Janson spoke of the “leap in the imagination” when information is carried from the imagination, to put down that brush stroke, realizing that the brush stroke might not be the result expected, since all matter resists human will, and partly because the artist’s mind is shifting, incorporating each line into an ever-growing mental image. That is what I hope to achieve in my own work.
I've been painting since childhood and exhibiting my work, which I consider autobiographical, being the manifestations of personal beliefs and relationships, for the past 15 years.
Thank you for the opportunity to share my passion in life with you.
