Tamara White the Artist
While working my mixed media pieces that collaboratively intertwine my life stories with bursts of inspiration, I found that life does imitate art. As we layer our experiences, one atop another, we often hold tight to some while shedding away others. This process produces a wonderfully complicated, yet beautifully abstract collaboration that becomes the core of who we are. My aim is portray the same layering process in my work so that each piece becomes a life of its own, with its own story to tell. All pieces are created with paper, gesso, acrylic, and wax on panels or canvas. After persevering my formative years in a little Northern California town I eventually made my way to the "big city". Now, many years later, Berkeley has become the home that I know and love, though I do head north for visits often. I am now mother to three, wife to one and principle curator of my dreams, reminding myself daily to stop and enjoy the journey.
