I live in Arizona. I have migrated here like most of the others, narrowly escaping the Midwest. I came here looking for something and have. Most of what one needs to find comes from inside however, and I knew that, but thought the sun wouldn't hurt, after all, I had lived in Michigan for years and I missed it.
My art is growing here. With any luck, it will support me someday as much as I have supported it. I haven't really set it free though, yet plan to soon.
My subjects are things I find in the road, figuratively speaking. I am an explorer at heart and can't help that, though I don't really think it needs help. I say it that way to explain some things I do and to prep those close to me for what I may do in the future. My attention tracks what I don't know and my art is discovered along the way. Some of the things I choose to paint are observed while others are contrived. Because of this, there is much variety.
I often hear calls for sameness or a style or brand. That just isn't where most of the paintings, so far, have come from. I don't think it's a very free way to express in paint, and that would seem the better way to find something. I try to work as much as possible and there are some styles I prefer so some of my paintings are bound to seem similar someday soon enough. =).
It IS the journey and each painting its own unique story in its own unique way along that road.
