Paul McPhee
Paul McPhee is one of the nation's premier Marine Life Artists. His work has been featured in galleries and exhibitions nationwide, including Wyland and Hogue Galleries. McPhee has designed album covers for Sony Records, one resulting in a Grammy nomination for Great White's "Cant Get There From Here". He has also contributed his work to benefit The National Coalition for Marine Conservation, and Mote Marine Labs.
Through the use of oils and watercolors, as well as murals, McPhee embraces the sea and the life that inhabits it. This powerful expression of art has repeatedly places him as the featured artist for fishing tournaments worldwide, along with commissioned work created for a select group of celebrities and high profile individuals.
Most recently, McPhee has branched out to other subject matter including harbor scenes and seascapes. McPhee was commissioned in 2005 by Universal Studios to do a series of JAWS paintings to cross promote the release of the 30th anniversary DVD and JAWS festival, that celebrates the release of the film 30 years earlier on Martha's Vineyard. The artwork was used for limited edition Giclee prints, posters and tee shirts. McPhee will also be featured in the soon to be released film documenting the 30 year legacy and impact of JAWS entitled "The Shark Is Still Working"
McPhee has successfully explored other mediums to express his creativity, such as clay sculpting and charcoal portraits. His clay sculpting has recently included a successful series of JAWS-themed shark busts.
Building on his JAWS artwork, McPhee is currently working on a series of "Pirates of the Caribbean" themed paintings.
