My art history:
I have been raised in Chester since I was a year old. In grade school I won most of the poster contests that they had for the PTA carnivals and did a lot of the drawing for the large bulletin boards. When I was 11 I was accepted into the Art Institute, which is a mail order art course. At the time they told me I was one of the youngest people to be accepted in the course. Didn't do too much with any of it until the 60's when I decided to just start painting. Was using water colors at that time. Then when I found the Acrylic paints I was on cloud nine. Oil paints always gave me a headache.
When I paint I do not sketch it out first, I have never been able to work that way. I just start at the top and keep going. I had one art teacher tell me I couldn't work that way, because I wouldn't get my perspective right, but that is just the way I do it. I wouldn't advise everyone to try it, I guess you just have a good eye for things.
Well I am still alive and kicking in Chester, Ca. and would love to hear from anyone that would like to contact me.
