Mission
Soul’s Respite
All proceeds from my site go towards establishing a low-cost or free to those in need Spiritual (non-religious) Retreat Center.
This site has been brought into being for one reason, that is to help Soul's Respite come into being. What we have in mind is to build a low-cost, or free to those who cannot afford it, Spiritual Retreat Center. We do not think it right that most of the retreat centers found in the US or elsewhere are prohibitively expensive. That leaves us average, lower, or even middle income folks without any option to effectively disengage long enough to actually heal from whatever circumstances we grew up in. So, it is our Intention - our Mission - to find some suitable land and build a bio-sustainable place in as much simplicity as can be accomplished.
In the Beginning of this - we thought a good plan may be to purchase an RV and invite people to come and camp with us if they want to in their own tents or RVs. That would be simple.
 1) Prayer Support
 2) An RV - Older is okay and small is just fine - habitable and running is a Must
 3) A bit of land with open water and deciduous trees.
 4) Like minded people to help bring this into being
 5) People interested in bartering for goods or services that will help this come into being
Biography
I am 43 - a disabled artist and setting up this site to sell my art and build a Retreat Center - all of this info can be found on my site at:
I have only one child - a 23 year old daughter who is married and living in Las Vegas and whom I sometimes stay with (as I am doing now). The rest of the time I travel around with another disabled friend of mine looking for the 'right place' to build a retreat which is our Dream. My only support at this time is Social Security Disability as it has been since my severe injury. I have no other family to speak of.
I was injured in 1996 by a patient - I was a mental health nurse and now am permanently disabled with a chronic condition known as Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy. I continue to have sometimes severe physical disabilities that prevent me from leading a 'normal work life'. I spent some three years in a wheelchair and hospital bed in excrutiating pain until I nearly died in 1997 and then had a rather miraculous recovery. Unable to really speak or read or communicate those first few years, I used the internet to re-educate myself since 1999. I am a typical Hermit in many senses still.
Before my injury I had a Life. After my injury I have discovered another Life entirely.
Poetry and the glass and Indian style Art are the only creative outlets I have had available since I became ill.
Lampworking is something I can do at home at any hour of the day when I feel able.
I learned to blow glass and lampwork about three years ago in Colorado - my teacher/friend taught me to make Roses and the rest is History.
My site is paypal enabled for all Items.
