About the Artist
Residence: Hyderabad, A.P., India
Vijaybhai Kochar
Biography:
For someone who had close encounter with fine art at a young age, coming back to painting on full time basis was an enjoyable homecoming after a long academic career. Within a short span of eight years I have done more than 700 digital paintings. I start with my own 2D compositions in ‘Painter’ and refine these in ‘Photopaint’. A variety of treatments and effects can be created (or altered) much more easily on the digital canvas than on a physical canvas. Digital medium gives greater power of creation and aesthetic refinement. To my spirit (ideas and feelings) is important. But if ideas and feelings drown the aesthetic appeal, it ceases to be fine art. To me digital painting gives great pleasure when I am working on it. A good work gives me a sense of aesthetic quality and achievement, more so when I look at it after some time.
Cultural imprint is natural to emerge in my works; sometimes obvious and sometimes subtle. My work reflects my worldview - which is as much Indian as it is universal. All my abstract works do not speak the ethnic language only.
